Physical Education

Primary Grades

Classroom teachers provide a variety of PE activities in the primary grades.  State required minutes are satisfied by team sports, cooperative games, and games organized around specific PE skills.  New equipment was purchased this year for primary PE activities and is centrally located for easy check-out.

Intermediate Grades

Our 90% release time teacher Bill Bunner provides a top quality, standards-based Physical Education program for students grades 4-6.  The Physical Education program includes standards-based activities incorporating soccer, basketball, football, volleyball, rhythm and movement, dance, exercises, and stretching, California 5th Grade physical fitness testing,  “PE Central”, " PE Challenge" ,  the "President's Physical Fitness Challenge".  Students also learn cooperative games such as Ultimate Frisbee, Frisbee Golf, relay games and the ever popular "Rocks!" game. Each year, an equipment fund is allotted through the Home and School Club fund-raisers to support the program. This program satisfies the state required PE minutes.

Sports Spirit Day

Teachers also coordinate our annual Sports Spirit Day when students visit twelve different physical activity stations to celebrate the end of the school year.

Walk for the Arts

Teachers also coordinate the Walk for the Arts event each year.  Students received pledges for the number of laps they walk during the event.  Proceeds are used to hire resident artists from the community to support our Visual and Performing Arts programs.
