Ms. Dunn's Stellar Students !

Grades 3 & 4

We're number one!  Room One that is...easy to find...right behind the main office.

Most of you have been receiving my weekly letter and keeping current with the

'doings' in our classroom...Ms. Dunn's Letter, every Monday till winter vacation.

IF you have a question/concern, please don't hesitate to make contact by:

      *leaving a phone message with Ms. Sharon in the office (728-6366);

     *write a note in your student's planner and ask them to bring it to me in class;

      *send me an email at the following address: patricia_dunn@pvusd.net

It's November, and we're doing our best to stay focused amidst all the distractions

that come with this time of year...Halloween, report cards, and next up Thanksgiving,

preparation for the winter program, and all the holidays that roll out before and after.

.

Report cards will come home with students on Friday, November 13th. Please go

over the individual grades, being certain to discuss the Ns and Ss in the 'Contributing

to a Classroom Community' section, and make a plan with your student for how

they'll approach the next grading period.

The next book report, a book jacket project, is due on the Friday after we return

from Thanksgiving break ( a full week off!!!), Dec. 4th. I've given every student

an information/how to packet, as well as the paper they need to accomplish the

task (which we set up in class together on Nov. 5th).

.

***Every night, students are encouraged to READ, READ, and READ some

more! It's the most direct path to literacy. Please, cheerlead their effort in reading

and support their enthusiasm for talking to you about what they're reading as

much as going to the library to search for new stories to dive into.

WRITING is the district's target curriculum area this year...in perfect alignment

with what has always been an essential development area in my classroom. Each

day students are given an opportunity to write in class, and sometimes they may

 bring an assignment home and ask for your help with editing and revising. Like

riding a bicycle or playing a sport well, writing takes practice and a dedication to

improving.

Look for future messages here over the coming months. In the meantime, be sure

to watch for my weekly letter on Mondays.

Cheers!
