  ART

As we complete art projects our social interaction, expressive language, reading and math skills are practiced.  Each week we create another page in our alphabet book.  We cut and paste animals and other favorite things.  Large classroom murals and smaller paintings are fun!  Art is a favorite activity for us.

SPOTLIGHT

MUSIC

Music is always enjoyable with our microphone! We sing about letters and numbers.  Everyone takes turns using our microphone and pointer.  Music helps us remember important information.  We build our self-confidence as we sing familiar songs.  Please share your favorite songs with us by adding to our Favorite Books and Songs Listing.

SPOTLIGHT

PHYSICAL MOVEMENT

We develop our small and large motor skills while learning academic curriculum.  We create letters and words with playdoh, salt, and shaving cream.  We enjoy obstacle courses, yoga, kicking the ball, and playing catch.  Some of us may receive Adaptive Physical Education or Occupational Therapy based on our special needs.

SPOTLIGHT

LANGUAGE

Developing our receptive and expressive language skills are a priority.  Morning Circle, Snack time, and our Question of the Day activities require us to use complete sentences when speaking in classroom.  Expanding our English vocabulary is a daily goal.  We may have articulation challenges.  We may receive Language and Speech Therapy based on each our special needs.

SPOTLIGHT

COMPUTERS

Our class enjoys time on the computer.  Every week we go to the school computer lab.  Computer fun is available on approved internet sites.  We learn math and reading skills with educational software.  On other days, we can earn classroom computer time.

SPOTLIGHT

LIBRARY

Each week, we go to the school library.  First, we listen to a story.  Then, we select a book to take back to our class.  Many students choose dinosaur books, others choose princess books. Dr. Seuss and Sesame Street are everyone’s favorite including our adult teachers.  Please share your favorite books with us by adding to our Favorite Books and Songs Listing.
