What is the Site Council?

The Bradley School Site Council (SSC) is a group of parents and staff who work together to develop and evaluate the School Plan.  Bradley’s Vision and Mission Statement provide a cornerstone for the School Plan, which is monitored and updated annually by the Site Council. The Site Council is also responsible for making budget decisions consistent with the goals of the School Plan.

The Site Council is made up of five staff members, and five parent members elected annually to serve staggered two-year terms. Meetings are held monthly and agendas are posted in advance. Meetings are open to the public and parents are encouraged to attend and contribute.

Parents: Many Ways to Help

As the State of CA continues to face a severe budget crisis every district, school and student is impacted.  There are many ways to help support your student and our school:

  • Talk to your child’s teacher about volunteering in the classroom or at home.
  • Encourage other family members such as aunts, uncle and grandparents to volunteer their time or talents.
  • Establish homework as a routine and important part of students’ daily lives by providing time and space to complete homework assignments and by showing interest in their work.
  • Read with your child and encourage him/her to read independently.  Ask your child about Accelerated Reader which logs their reading towards the Superintendent’s Million Word Challenge Goal!
  • Attend meetings and become involved with other parents: Home & School Club (HSC), School Site Council (SSC), English Language Advisory Council (ELAC) and Enrichment Council.
  • Provide needed supplies to your child’s classroom or check which school-wide supplies are needed in the Central Supply Closet across from the Library.
  • Donate gently used books to classrooms or the Library.
