were returned. Although it is a
disappointingly low response rate, the survey data points to an overall high
level of support for the school’s academic program, climate, support
resources, physical environment, teachers and administrators, partnership
with families and technology program. We are again proud to have this level
of confidence in and support for our outstanding school! In fact an overwhelming number
of the write-in comments on the survey express appreciation of outstanding
parent/teacher involvement, strong sense of community, excellent teachers,
high academic standards, and good school safety and supervision. However in
the comments section, other parents continue to be worried about the
traffic/parking situation at Bradley. Specifically, many parents desire more
parking space availability. The administration and staff share this concern and
plans have moved forward this year to address the issues with the goal of
improved safety, enhanced traffic flow, adequate parking for all and reduced
congestion on Corralitos Road. Bradley
is partnering with PVUSD and the Additionally in the comments
section, some parents expressed concern about the poor physical condition of
school bathrooms, classroom carpets and lack of running water in
portables. School Site Council will
raise these concerns with the District and seek any possible assistance with
rectifying this. Other concerns include: desire for improved school-home
communication through the website and the need for continued differentiation
and clustering of GATE students. Bradley school prides itself in
addressing concerns raised by parents. In last year’s survey concerns about
the school climate and need for more conflict resolution programs and
practices were raised. In response to
these concerns the Olweus Anti-Bullying
Education program began at Bradley this year. Kick-off assemblies, classroom meeting,
school-wide signage and revised disciplinary forms have all been implemented.
Finally, last year some parents requested more nutritional lunches/meals for
students. Bradley implemented a salad
bar with the Tuesday lunch option this
year. Expansion of this program is
planned. School Plan for 2008-09 The
School Plan for 2008-9 was approved unanimously at the last School Site
Council Meeting. The plan focuses on
following areas: Assessing Student Learning, Providing Students Access to
Grade Level Core Curriculum, Academic Intervention and Support,
Accountability and Data-Driven Decision-Making, Partnering for Focused
Leadership, Serving English Learners, Extended Learning Opportunities,
Library Services, Teacher Qualifications and Special Education. |
