Services to Second Language Learners:  Jennifer Fish, Bradley’s 50% Bilingual Resource Teacher, presented the Site Council with a slide show regarding the services to second language learners.  She explained that Bradley classrooms are Structured English Immersion.  This allows teachers to give support to students in their primary language.  Right now Bradley has approximately 120 students that are Second Language Learners, or approximately 20% of the student population.  To determine if a student is ELL is based ,a parent survey is given when students enter school (parents indicate that language other than English is spoken at home).  California English Language Development Test is given to those students and those scoring intermediate or below are classified as ELL. Jennifer described services for Second Language Learners at Bradley and how those services are provided through both the classroom teachers and herself and her bilingual aide.  Jennifer gave a very informative presentation.

North Zone Advisory Report:  No report this month.

Internal Scan:  School Corrective Action Plan due to the Superintendent in January based on our own internal scan.  Each grade level team is given release time to visit one grade level above and one grade level below and then fill out feedback form to complete the Corrective Action Plan.  Bradley was already doing these classroom visits!  Teachers will be looking for content and rituals and routines. Focus areas will be: increased articulation and reading.

Technology Support Model 2007-2008:  Proposition was handed out and will also be presented to Home and School Club.  Two models presented:  25% technology technician or 10% Tech Support Teacher.  District wants requisition and all money up front at the start of the year.  This will be also be explained at the H&S Club.  A decision will need to be made as to which model, or modified version of the model, to go with.

Parent Survey:  Modifications:  Site Council reviewed proposed survey which will be a District wide survey and gave their comments to Kathy for passing along to the District.  Survey will be forthcoming in February.

Driscoll’s Purchase:  Driscoll is purchasing the property across the street and has had two community meetings.  The property will be used for a propagation facility and part of it will be leased to a blueberry farmer.  Appears that they want to build a good partnership with the school.

Traffic/Parking Solution:  Kathy will attend a third round of meetings tomorrow with various district and county personnel, including Ellen Pirie.  Looks like there will a third, turn lane, in front of Bradley School.  In the meantime, the school is being asked to make various internal changes that will be made in stages.  A draft of Stage 1, which includes removing several parking spaces from the front lot by the kindergarten rooms, to make room for all buses to line up for pick up, was handed out.  More information to come.

Principal’s Report:  Bradley was #1 in attendance for the North Zone last year.  Staff celebration next week.  This last trimester 168 students (33% of the student population) had perfect attendance.  Why?  Welcoming staff, incredible teachers that create an exciting learning environment and the after school enrichment.  Cross-grade level articulation visits taking place (see Internal Scan above).  Musical in March will be CATS and tryouts are this week.  SBC day coming up which will include instruction for writing, specific reading interventions and technology.  Teachers will be attending their second positive discipline workshop next week.  Dec. 20 is a full day with the Winter Program beginning at 8:15 a.m.  Bake sale for Family Art Night will be at the Winter Program.  Walk for the Arts netted $8934.25, with $282.50 going to each primary class and $516.45 going to each upper grade class.

Adjournment:  Meeting was adjourned at 6:00 p.m. with the Principal’s Report at the Home and School Club meeting.

Next meeting is Tuesday, February 6, 2007 at 4:45 p.m.
