Art/Music P.E. Gran/Addendum to School Plan:  Options were passed out regarding how to utilize this grant.  The teachers will be reviewing and bringing forth their final proposal to Site Council.  Another arts grant, which comes every 5 years, will be coming in later and we are also doing Walk for the Arts next Wednesday, so that is why the ideas are weighted towards P.E.  Looking at professional development so we have a sustaining program.  We have two years in which to spend this grant.

SWEET Technology Grant:  Grant Coffin from this District was a guest at our meeting to tell us about the SWEET Technology Grant.  SWEET stands for Student Writing Enhanced by Educational Technology.  Our school has received a two year grant which seeks to develop and improve writing as a skill through effective teaching and the use of technology.  It is for grades 4-6.  We will be getting a refit of our computer lab and the computers in the lab now will be going out to the classrooms.  Four teachers from Bradley will be participating in the program.  Software called My Access will be used to track students’ progress in writing.  Although the program is for students in grades 4‑6 to improve writing, all students at the school will benefit because of the computer lab updates.  Grant gave us a power point presentation on the Grant as well as a question and answer time.  Great news for our school and thanks Grant for all your hard work in getting us this grant!

Traffic/Parking Meeting:  Superintendent recently visited our site.  Wednesday October 24 at 2:30 p.m. is the next Traffic meeting with the County and District as well as school site personnel and parents.  The County and District are both drawing up new plans.  First main issue is to get lights in the back parking lots as some of the teachers may have to start parking back there.

Recess Schedules:  The current recess schedule was handed out.  The original schedule was in response to transportation changes.  Release time schedules also had to be taken into account.  The teachers reviewed the current schedule and they are in agreement with it – they like the short breaks every hour in the upper grades for rejuvenation.  It also helps prepare the kids for junior high.

Future Agenda Items:  The continued discussion of the Arts Grant.

Principal’s Report:  Kathy told everyone about the SWEET Technology Grant.  North Zone won Best of Theme in the Aptos Fourth of July parade and we have the award at our school first.  Walk for the Arts is October 10.  Family Art Night is October 10.  Volunteers are needed for the Monte Fireworks North Zone food booth.  Need parents to volunteer for October 12 Spirit Day to help with the Student Store.  October 30 is bully prevention training; need parents to sign up.  Need parent volunteers for Paw Print Press, which includes binding and stapling for teachers.  Halloween parade is October 31 which is a short day.  Parent Conferences are the week of October 15-19.  Book Fair is also October 15-19.

Adjournment:  Meeting was adjourned at 6:03 p.m. with the Principal’s Report at the Home and School Club meeting.  Next meeting is Tuesday, November 6 at 4:45 p.m.
