Bullying Prevention Program:  Guest speaker, Leticia Gomez from Pajaro Valley Prevention & Student Assistance spoke about the Bullying Prevention Program available to all PVUSD schools through the Safe Schools Healthy Students program through a three year federal grant.  (These funds have also enabled Bradley to have a three hour playground supervisor and after school parking lot supervisor.)  The Bullying Prevention Program is at no cost to the schools, as PVPSA pays for everything through these federal funds (cost is over $12,000 per school).  The program being utilized is the Olweus Bullying Prevention Program, and it has been very successful.  Several handouts were provided which outlined and explained the program.  She explained the step-by-step program and how it works, starting with an assessment for 3-6 graders.  A committee is then made up of a teacher from each grade level, at least one parent and a community member.  They meet one time per month, after a two day training.  The program also includes how to work with parents, how to intervene with the victim and the bystanders.   A booster training is given at the beginning of each school year and an assessment at the end of each school year.  It was decided to try to get the assessments done by the end of this year, so the committee can be formed and training start early next year.

Curriculum Council:  Next meeting will be this Wednesday.  Discussions will include P.E. and arts money, pacing calendars and math benchmark assessments.

Elections for 2007-2008 Parent Representative:  One open position for next year.  Flyers will be sent out to invite parents to run for the position and to provide their biography.

North Zone Advisory Report:  Barry Wallace reported on last night’s North Zone meeting.  Most of the meeting was spent discussing high school transcripts.  Issues regarding transcripts from classes at Cabrillo College, Sumer school classes, Sports Camps, etc.  GPA’s are affected by how the transcripts are put together and what is included.  There is a $2500 school garden grant which is being applied for by the District for each school with a garden.  Dr. Gary Woods has taken a position as superintendent with the San Moreno District.  A replacement is being sought for Dr. Woods.

School Plan Update: The SSC reviewed the CORE program, pages 4-7.  The Vision and Mission statements have already been reviewed and approved.  Next month we will review the curricular areas of the School Action Plan and Budget for next year.  Plan needs to be approved by May 30.

Principal’s Report:  Enrichment flyer was passed out.  Kathy reported on how the Walk for the Arts Money was being spent, which included clay classes, drawing and painting classes, watercolors, wood blocking, pottery and a few others.  CATS was a great hit – the biggest cast ever at Bradley.  Awards assembly last Friday included 7 kinds of awards.  Bob Reid concert will be held at the end of the year for those students who either have perfect attendance, met the Million Word Challenge or passed all their Bear Math Facts.  State testing will be starting after Spring Break.  Budget/School Plan to be approved by May 30.  Kindergarten roundup was Monday and they enrolled 48 kindergartners.  Staff changes for next year:  Mrs. Luzivich retiring, Mr. Manier taking a position as a GATE teacher with the District, Mrs. Annon is taking a year off, Mrs. Barnes will teach full time, and Mrs. Yatson and Mrs. Winters will both be teaching full time.

Adjournment:  Meeting was adjourned at 6:00 p.m. with the Principal’s Report at the Home and School Club meeting.
