Budget:  Column from Pajaronian was passed out written by the President and Vice President of the School Board Trustees.  District is in a budget freeze.  Inside News was passed out with information on how to contact your Senate and Assembly Representatives regarding the pulling of funding from education.  All are encouraged to write their legislators.  Sample letters are on the pvusd.net website under Budget Crisis.  We need to advocate to support our school.  All grants are frozen, including the P.E. and arts/music grants.  The SWEET Technology Grant is ok as the hardware and software was already purchased.

Alliance Structure:  Discussion on how to improve the Alliance Structure.  Several items on the agenda of the Site Council and Home and School Club are duplicated.  Suggested model is to include those items during the Principal’s Report portion of the meetings.  Kathy prepared a suggested agenda, showing the overlapping areas.  Idea will also be presented at the Home and School Club meeting following this meeting.

Traffic/Parking:  The mornings are good; afternoons are still a bit challenging.  Some repainting has been done, but with the budget freeze, not sure how much more will be done.  Lighting in front of the portables may still happen.  No repainting in the back parking lot.  Driscoll has agreed to give the county a portion of their property on their side of the road for a turn lane.  Therefore, no parking spaces in the dirt area in front of the school will be lost.  Ellen Pirie is committed to getting this done.  There has been more carpooling with the change in procedure.

Academic Program Survey/School Plan Process:  For the first time, the North Zone must participate in the Academic Program Survey which is required of districts in Program Improvement. Focus is on Language Arts and Math.  Kathy handed out the results of the teachers completing the survey.  We started going over it, and will complete the review at the next site council meeting in March.  This will be driving our school plan.  Our site plan is due May 21.  Kathy handed out a timeline regarding the School Plan Process.

Bullying Prevention.  We were given quiz about bullying.  The Olewus Bullying Prevention Program is in full swing.  Parents have been trained, there has been a kick off assembly for students and another one is planned.  We were given an outline of the program elements.  The bench slip form has been revised - looking for patterns of behavior which could indicate bullying.  Next month we will be shown a slide show on the hotspots of bullying at Bradley School.

Principal’s Report:  Spelling Bee champs from Bradley going to the North Zone Spelling Bee.  The Share the Love auction is this Saturday.  Science Fair is next week, with someone from Driscoll’s and science teachers from other schools doing the judging.  Family Math Night is February 28.  Teachers are starting to do assessments.  Bullying Prevention Program is underway; teachers have been trained today for 2 hours.  It is School Board policy that all schools have a Bullying Prevention Program.  Budget crisis – we don’t know where the state budget is going, and the District has frozen the budget.

Adjournment:  Meeting adjourned at 6:00 p.m. with the Principal’s Report at the Home and School Club meeting.  Next meeting is Tuesday, March 4, 2008, at 4:45 p.m.
